What Shall We Call Her?

It's no big surprise, I LOVE OWLS! Oh yes, I loved owls before they became 'trendy'. I like the funny, cute ones. There's just something about those big eyes that get me. So in honor of my owl love, I thought I would pay tribute to them with this punched card -

Cute huh? I used several punches and a die to create this little gal. Let's start at the head and work our way down. For the head, I die cute one Top Note and folded it in half. The ears are the bird from the Bird Punch, the bow is made using the Small Heart Punch and the circle from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. The eyes are the 1 3/8", 1 1/4" and 3/4" Circle punches. The beak is the Full Heart Punch. The body is made up of three 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punches and we'll end it with his feet which is the Modern Label Punch cut in half.

It's a little hard to tell, but the beak, feet and middle scallop of the body are all sponged around the edges with Early Espresso ink. That, along with the White Signo-Gel Pen accents, really help to give this little gal some character. The great thing is there is a large piece of Early Espresso card stock that is folded in half (it's hiding behind the head and body) to make the base of the card, so it is a real card that you can make out and it does fit in a standard envelope. How fun is that? To make a boy owl, just omit the bow.

Now this cute gal needs a name. I would LOVE to hear from YOU as to some suggestions. Please comment below and the winner might just receive a little something from me! *wink wink* Happy Punching!

Happy Birthday Emma!

A bright and cheery birthday card for my bright and cheery niece, Emma. Happy Birthday girlie!  I come from a fairly large family, so it seems like every time I turn around there's a birthday on the horizon. I don't mind, I love em' all! But when their birthdays come, the older I feel. Oh, the diapers I used to change and now the oldest ones are already in college. It seems like yesterday I was welcoming them into the world. *sighs* Enough reminiscing for now, let's get back to this fun card!

I love the little cupcake from the Create A Cupcake set (#128520). I mean really, you can't go wrong with cupcakes! And the "Oh Happy Day!" greeting is from an oldie, but goodie set called Everyday Expressions. Love it! I had fun playing with the color scheme as well; it's a combination of Pool Party, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White and Crisp Cantaloupe. It screams spring to me! It can't get here fast enough! Happy Stamping!

Hearts Galore

This is A LOT of hearts. There's sheets of Wisteria Wonder stamped hearts. There's embossed die cut Real Red hearts. Wonder what all this is going to make? Hmmm.....I'll share the finished projects next week. Oh, the agony of waiting! Until then, tune in tomorrow for another fun stamped project! Happy Stamping!

When Winter Meets Spring

How do you balance the current cold, snowy weather that is your reality outside to the warm, flowering spring you wish would get here? Well, this is how! At least, this is my interpretation of it anyway. I was having fun playing around with a couple of stamp sets and ideas and this was what became of the craziness.

I really like the color combination I ended up with: Pool Party, Whisper White, Real Red, and Baked Brown Sugar.  It's just crisp and fresh appealing! I paired together Gifts of Kindness, Delicate Doilies and Gorgeous Grunge (of course!) sets. I am totally a burlap junkie. I like the vintage vibe it brings to projects. Since our Burlap Ribbon is wider than what I wanted for this card, I cut the ribbon in half width wise then cut a pennant end on it and attached it with Sticky Strip. So now I have the other half of the piece of burlap to use for something else. Wonder what that will be? Hmmmm......Happy Stamping!

Happy Birthday Cheyann!

Today's card was meant for an extra special girl, my niece. Happy Birthday Cheyann! She is like a monkey, always bouncing around and having fun. So I knew this little monkey from the Zoo Babies set would be perfect for her! I thought it would be fun if they were climbing and playing around the number 6 since that's how old she is now. She's growing up fast I tell ya'!

I thought it would also be fun to make her a shaped card instead of the standard rectangle. What I did was die cut two scallop circles, then made a score line about a 1/2" from the top of one and creased. I applied sticky strip along that fold and then adhered the other scallop circle on top. So this card is hinged at the top and opens without any trouble. And will it fit in a regular envelope for mailing you ask? Yep, it does! Have you tried a shaped card lately? Give it a try! It really helps to spark your creativity by doing something out of the norm! Happy Stamping!

Fishy Thanks

I love my customers! Let's just put that out there. They really are some of the BEST people in the entire world! I am so thankful for each and everyone of you! With your support, I am able to be the best at home mommy I can be to Jack, and you allow me to share all my creativity with you daily. So for that, THANK YOU!

I created this card to send out to my customers who placed orders with me last month. I fell in love with this color combination: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Soft Sky and Pumpkin Pie. Plus, my little fishies were itching to get off the shelf and be put to use. I tried to mimic the bubbles in the fishbowl with the tone on tone Crumb Cake circles. It's a little hard to tell, but the fishbowl is covered in Crystal Effects (love that stuff!) so when hardened it gives the effect of glass. I've learned over my years of stamping that sometimes, less is more. So, today I was keeping it simple! Happy Stamping!

Happy Birthday Mom!

When I received my FREE Banner Punch in my Sale-A-Bration order, I knew I wanted to use it on my mom's birthday card. She is a lover of flowers, and grows vast gardens full of different ones. I used the Summer Silhouettes set to create a special garden for her. The greeting is from the Chalk Talk set which I die cut using the coordinating framelits. You can't get much easier than that! I opted to use the Banner Punch in two ways. First I created a little hanging banner that I embossed with the narrow heart embossing folder and hung it from Linen Thread. Then I put a little banner peeking out from behind the words for a 'pop' of color and something a little unexpected. Overall, a fun and easy card for someone special! Happy Stamping!

Getting Digital

Happy Saturday Stampers! I get asked from time to time to do custom work for certain events. I was looking through some of my digital projects and came across one that I hadn't shared with you yet. So I thought why not share it today!

Here is a bridal shower invitation I created in MDS. Since there was a lot of text, I opted to keep the design fairly simple and straightforward. I like to coordinate the color and/or theme of the invites to the event I'm designing for. In this case, I chose her wedding colors. Before sharing with you, I omitted personal information, hence the white box. I made these 4" x 6" size and had them printed at my local photo place. I did give the bride a complimentary copy of the invitation following her shower so she could have one for her scrapbook. Have you designed in MDS today? If not, I suggest you give it a try! Happy Digitizing!

Burning Love

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! My valentines haven't opened their cards yet, so I will have to wait and share those with you another day. Can't ruin the surprise for them after all. But, today's card is LOVE inspired! This is actually an anniversary card I made for a specific couple in mind. They both work full-time jobs, are parents to three fabulous kids, and are also volunteer firefighters. I KNEW that the little fire truck from the You're My Hero set (#130306) would be PERFECT to use! I also incorporated the saying stamp from the * FREE * Sale-A-Bration set, See Ya' Later (#133533). It's a little hard to tell, but the strip of Basic Black card stock is textured with the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder (#129984). How did I get that heart shaped cut out you might be wondering? I used my Heart Collection Framelits (#125599) and die cut that corner of the Real Red card stock away so I could stamp directly on the Whisper White card stock behind. Kind of fun huh?

I must share that I was a little "punny" with my message to them on the inside. At least I cracked myself up when I was writing it!?!  It went a little something like, "Here's to many more years of flaming bliss." LOL Happy Stamping!

Happy Birthday Doug!

I had fun making today's card for my brother-in-law, Doug. He's a funny, energetic, quirky kind of guy. I still remember him wearing his Chuckies and sporting a mullet when he was in high school! Oh my! the memories that still bring about a giggle. Gotta love em'!

I wanted to have some fun with my color combination for this card. I finally decided upon Real Red, Whisper White, Smoky Slate and Bermuda Bay. I highlighted the use of two stamp sets, You're Amazing and Fabulous Phrases; and the Chevron Embossing Folder added just the right amount of texture. Just a fun, simple card for a fun, simple guy! Happy Stamping!

Creating Outside The Box

Today I thought I would share with you a different kind of a project I created. Throughout the various seasons each year, I like to decorate my fireplace mantle accordingly. I don't necessarily like to decorate it the same way each time. I like to change things up a bit. By doing that it helps to keep things fresh. But like a lot of people, buying all new decor items each year doesn't always fit into the budget. Here's what my mantle looks like this year -

And do I dare say, that it didn't cost me a thing?!? Yep, I pulled together things I already owned and if I needed a "little something", well then I MADE it!  Do you see the little star garland hanging from the wood shadow box? I was one of the winners from Stampin' Up's World Card Making Contest back in October. As my prize, I received the November My Paper Pumpkin kit. Instead of making the cards that came in the kit, I accessorized with it's contents! LOVE IT! And yes, those are some of my valentine stamps in the shadow box as well on display to go with the theme.

Now we'll take a closer look at the "BE MINE" banner hanging from the white frame because I MADE that too!

I used our Burlap Ribbon (which I absolutely adore!) and cut 6 pieces of it all the same length. Then using my scissors I cut a pennant end on each one. I taped (yes, taped! using clear packing tape) each one onto a piece of jute twine I already had. I also used the clear packing tape to adhere the twine onto the back of the frame. That way I can simple take it off an reuse the frame in a different way. I then used my trusty Typeset Alphabet Die and Real Red card stock and die cut all the letters. How did I attach the letters to the Burlap Ribbon you are wondering? With dimensionals! Yep, each letter is popped up on dimensionals! "FANTABULOUS!"

I encourage you to look around at your stamping stash and get creative with the items in a different way! Happy Stamping!

Sending You LOVE

The wait is over! Did you like the little sneak peek I gave you yesterday? Today's card is all about LOVE. Such a small word that means the world to many, comes with buckets of responsibility, makes you joyful and sad, but most of all it fills your heart to the rim! Even though this card is simple, it packs a big message! That adorable hedgehog and snowman is a stamp from the 25 Year Best of Snow set (item # 134387). Isn't he just the cutest!?! He originally debuted in the Holiday Hedgehogs set a few years back, so I was excited to have him back. I die cut the letters using the Typeset Alphabet Die set and used our Small Heart punch to give the inside of the "O" a little extra. It's popped up on a dimensional for depth. I had fun (and found it therapeutic too!) using various colors of our markers to color in the pair of friends.

Want to take a peek of the inside? Here ya' go! The fun doesn't stop just on the front!

Sending all you sweet stampers extra special LOVE today! Happy Stamping!

An Inside Look

I thought it would be fun to show you the inside of the card I posted yesterday. This is of course, before I personalized it. I think a lot of stampers leave the inside of their cards blank, which is fine. But it's super fun to stamp them and give the inside a "little character" too! Sometimes you work so hard on the card front, making sure it's perfect in every way; you don't want to disappoint the receiver when they open it. So go ahead and "jazz" up the inside of your cards. You know you want to now!

* * BONUS! * * Here's a sneak peek of tomorrow's creation -

The suspense is killing you right? Tune in tomorrow! Happy Stamping!

Splattered Thanks

I admit it, I am a Gorgeous Grunge junkie! But for those you who follow my blog, you already know that! *wink* Seriously, this set has a permanent spot on my stamping table. It's one of those sets that you can use for subtle or bold backgrounds, as main focal points, on feminine or masculine cards, etc. I could go on and on! For this fun and flirty card I paired it with the Sketch Alphabet set. Add a Linen Thread bow and this card screams charisma! Love it! Happy Stamping!

Thought I would have some fun with a couple of my oldie, but goodie sets; Frosty Friends and Snow Much Fun. Both of which, I LOVE and wish were still available. But alas they are not, so I will keep them safe and sound in my special stash. I made this card for a dear friend of mine to let her know she was on my mind. *smile* Can you see the snowflakes gently falling on the snow friends? Since I didn't have any actual snowflakes, I thought the cute little flower from the Summer Silhouettes stamp set looked like one. What do you think? Don't you love it when stamps can be used for other purposes?! Woo Hoo! Happy Stamping to all my snowbuddies!

Heartfelt Treats

Thought I would share some fun treats I made for some very special people. These were inspired by Connie S. (Thank you for sharing your talent Connie!) I took the largest framelit from the Apothecary Framelits and scored two lines, one on either side of the width of the candy bar. In this case, a 100 Grand Bar; because the recipients are worth more than that to me! *smile* I then folded up the framelit and stapled it shut. Added some stamped and punched pieces to cover the staple and voila! Simple, but heartfelt treats!

Here's a close up so you can see all the details -

It's a little hard to tell but before I scored the framelit, I embossed it with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder to give it a little texture. I had fun making these treats! Have you given someone special a treat lately? Happy Stamping!

Color Challenge 10

Two color challenges in one week? What? Yep, you read that right. I'm participating in two challenges this week! What else can one do when you have THREE storm systems passing through in a week. Can I just say it, I am SO READY for spring! It can't get here fast enough!

I found this color challenge over at harder than the last one. I enjoy the colors on their own, but when they are together it really made me use my creative juices! After some trial and error, this is what the end result became -

I'm sending this to someone special who is going through a rough time right now. Just wanted her to know that I'm here for her, always! *hugs* Happy Stamping!

Arrow Fun

Anybody else have a 'thing' for arrows lately? I don't know what it is, but I love the little arrow in the Hello Lovely stamp set. That is THE stamp that I use the most from that set. I love how it draws your focus to certain aspects of your stamped project. For this card, I went beyond just that one little arrow stamp from that set, and used the rounded floral image as well. I wanted to make a statement with it, so I stamped it in rows of different colors. With doing that, I created my own DSP in a certain way. The top half of the Whisper White card stock is actually embossed with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder to give it some texture. And did you notice the three rhinestones on the lower corner of the Soft Suede framelit? Just a little 'bonus' of bling! Happy Stamping!

Color Challenge 9

Thought I would play along today with the color challenge over at All I have to say is, I LOVE these colors together! They scream fresh and trendy to me. What do you think?

I knew I wanted to use one of the new Sale-A-Bration items you can earn for FREE right now (love that!); so I picked out my favorite SAB set, See Ya' Later and went to town. (I apologize for the bad picture....some reason, I couldn't get it 'just right'.)

I also used the new, cute Banner Punch you can earn for FREE as well. I used the Perfect Pennant stamp set and stamped a little something on each hanging banner in Whisper White ink and I sent the piece of Tangerine Tango card stock through the Chevron Embossing Folder to add texture. Here's a close up to see more of the details -

Just a quick and fun card overall. Happy Stamping!

The Alligator Gobble

I am blessed. I really am! I am as giddy as a kid in a candy store when I get a notification that I received an online order from one of my wonderful customers. I truly appreciate each and every one of you! THANK YOU for choosing me as your demonstrator!! *hugs*

For last month's orders I wanted to create a playful card, and for that I pulled out my Zoo Babies stamp set. I knew the little alligator would be perfect for what I had in mind. I randomly stamped the little guy all over whisper white card stock then filled in with the little heart from the Create A Cupcake set, as if he's chasing those little hearts wanting to gobble them up. Playful right? I coordinated the tag and used the stamp with the heart from the Chalk Talk set. Just a whimsical card to let my customers know that I wouldn't be where I am today in my business without THEM! THANK YOU EVERYONE! Happy Stamping!

Hang In There

I like trying a variety of color combinations on my projects. It helps to keep projects fresh and me feeling more excited and wanting to create more! Would you agree? Today's card uses just that, a fun color combination!

This card encompasses Island Indigo, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake and Whisper White. Together I think they make more of a 'brighter' fall type card. Sometimes during the fall and winter I get into a rut of using dark colors a lot, but not this time!  A couple of stamp sets went into the making of this card: Wonderfall, Tag It, From The Heart and of course, you know I couldn't not use Gorgeous Grunge! *wink wink* Happy Stamping!

Mosaic Thanks

Happy Saturday Stamping Friends! I got to spend this morning with some of my club gals getting busy and creating three fabulous projects! I'll be sharing some of those projects in the near future. Today is the first day in what seems like forever, that it hasn't been frigid cold outside. I'll take what I can get, as I think this coming week temperatures are going to fall again. Brrr! Thought I would share with you one of the cards from my Open House this past July when the new catalog debuted.

All my attendees got to make this fun and easy card that highlighted a new stamp set, Mosaic Madness along with it's coordinating punch and embossing folder. They also got to use two of the new colors introduced, Crisp Cantaloupe and Smoky Slate. I like to introduce my stamping friends to new products and fresh ideas during my Open House. I have another one planned in a couple weeks (February 22) that will highlight the new All Occasions Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure. For all the details, click on "Calendar of Events" on the left. I hope you can join me! Happy Stamping!
