Red Carpet Affair

Hmmmm.......wonder what I did yesterday?

Yep! I went to Baltimore with a couple of my *fabulous* downline team members for the new catalog premiere! We had a wonderful time! How can you not though with great friends, good food, and seeing new products? Did I mention I have a copy of the NEW 2014-2015 catalog in my hands!! And  a new stamp set too!! Woo Hoo! One of the gals I went with even won an additional stamp set that was oh, so cute! Can't wait for you all to see the new catalog next month! Happy Stamping!

Falling Leaves

*sighs* Ah yes, here is another stamp set that I am sad to see retire with this catalog, Wonderfall. Such a versatile and fun set. Fall is my favorite time of year so I am drawn to anything that represents that season. This set will definitely find a spot on my "I love it so I have to keep it even though it's retired shelf". I used our Circle Card Thinlets Die to make this fun swinging card. It may look complicated, but I promise you can whip one of these up lickety split! Stampin' Up made it super easy with this thinlet set.

Here's what it looks like when you swing it open. I thought it would be fun to stamp the front greeting onto a leaf that I die cut using the Autumn Accents die. I then crumpled it up and adhered it only to the front left flap, so when it swings open it moves with the card too. Happy Stamping!

White Blossoms

I am going to miss this large blossom flower from the Betsy's Blossoms stamp set that is retiring. It makes such a statement on cards whether it's the focal point or a background like on this card. I made smaller 3" x 3" thank you notes using this card concept and thought to myself, "Wonder what it would like as a full size card?" And the rest is history! I love how it turned out, simple but eye catching. I really like the look of the blossom inked with Whisper White ink and stamped on the darker Night of Navy card stock. And I love the idea of punching the large butterfly out of the Crumb Cake card stock and then adding a punched small butterfly out of vellum to the inside of it to create the appearance of a 3D butterfly. Simple idea, but big impact! Happy Stamping!

Happy Birthday Jack!

Today is the BEST DAY EVER! Yep, it's my little man's 4th birthday! My life became complete when he came into it four years ago today. Mommy loves you more than anything Jack!  Thought I would share the card I made especially for him on his special day.

He is a die hard train fan through and through, but is getting into cars more and more these days. Heck, I played with Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars when I was little. I have a collection to hand down to him someday soon. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to give him a car card this year that I created using various punches. Exactly which ones you ask? Wide Oval, Large Oval, Word Window, Decorative Label, Modern Label, 3/4" Circle, 1/2" Circle and Build A Cupcake punches were all used to create this cute blue car. And yes, I knew it had to be a blue car because he likes blue everything these days! To highlight that it was his fourth birthday, the car is towing 4 balloons behind it. Too cute right? Add a road sign and create a paved road and voila! The PERFECT birthday card for my PERFECT little man! Happy Stamping!

Sympathetic Doilies

Happy Friday everyone! Tomorrow is an extra special day, my little man turns 4! Oh, how the time has flown with him! He really does make me a better person day in, day out. Don't know what I'd do without him! Mommy loves you Jack!

Unfortunately on a sadder note, today's card was sent to a dear friend of mine who recently experienced the loss of her beloved dog. Well wishes and hugs go out to her during this hard time. Saying goodbye to anyone or anything is just plain hard!

We'll soon be saying goodbye to both of these sets featured on the card, "So Sorry" and "Delicate Doilies". They are on a 'while supplies last' basis, so if either or both strike your fancy better get to ordering! Don't forget, TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR FREE SHIPPING from Stampin' Up as well! Notice the Pistachio Pudding grosgrain ribbon at the top of the tag? Hmmm.....we don't carry grosgrain ribbon in that color. So how did I do it? I took a piece of our Whisper White grosgrain ribbon and using a Sponge Dauber, sponged Pistachio Pudding ink on both sides of the ribbon until I got the right hue of color I wanted. How awesome is that!?! Yep, now you can have any color of ribbon your heart desires! Woo Hoo! Happy Stamping!

Vintage Love

Today is a "feeling a bit vintage" kind of day. Ever have days where your tastes are headed in one direction and the next they are going totally opposite? This card was made for a sweet couple I know who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. I think the "Hello Doily" stamp makes the perfect vintage background for any card and sponging the edges in Crumb Cake ink just adds to the affect. Hmmm....wonder what the ruffle behind the heart is? I'll give you a minute to ponder....(enter Final Jeopardy music here).....it's a brown coffee filter! Yep, saw a pack of the brown ones right next to the white ones on the shelf in the grocery story and I thought to myself, "Why not?" Change can be a good thing! Especially when you can incorporate various items into your stamping! *wink wink* A simple knotted ribbon in the corner and small pearls add the finishing touches. Happy Stamping!

Little Thank You's

Thought I would share with you the fun little 3"x 3" cards I included in club orders last month during Sale-A-Bration. Hence, that's why I highlighted the use of the Banner Blast set. I must admit, I think I used that set and/or punch the most out of all the SAB items being offered. I'm super happy that the punch will be in the upcoming catalog! Yippee!! It's a little hard to tell, but the small flower with the rhinestone center is actually punched out and popped up with a dimensional. Here's a sneak peek of the inside before I personalized them -

I'm always so grateful for my club members. They are all stamping rockstars! Happy Stamping!

Across The Miles

Happy Earth Day everyone! I'm having fun with the photopolymer set, "Map It Out" (#134620). It coordinates well with another photopolymer set "Greetings From" (#134621). Love em' both! And in this case, I also paired it with the set, "Just Sayin" from the mini catalog. As you can tell, this card was made for a wonderful friend in Utah. *big grins* Utah is a wonderful state to visit. I've been there a few times and it's never disappointed me! On my last trip there I met her, we became friends and have stayed in touch ever since! Funny how life works! This card features a fun color combination of Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Baked Brown Sugar and since it highlights a map of the US, I thought it was perfect to share for Earth Day! Happy Stamping!

'U' Sparkle

Today is an extra special day for me - it's my birthday!! Ah yes, I am a product of the 70's. The youngest of five. I like to think that my parents kept working on it until they got it right! *laughing out loud* Kidding! Since I always feel the love on my birthday, I wanted to extend that love onto you! And since you all know that Gorgeous Grunge is my favorite set, it had to be put into use on this special day! I used the Sketch Alphabet and Numbers set to spell out 'LOVE'. Not only did I use the word as part of my background, I also used it as part of my focal point as well. Love it when stamps do double duty! I die cut the 'U' using our Typeset Alphabet Die set and our fabulous Glimmer Paper to add sparkle. After all, all of 'U' sparkle to me!! Happy Stamping on this FABULOUS day!

I'm on Cloud 9 today! My card was a Top 3 Pick in the sketch challenge over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com!! Woo Hoo! Which card was the winner you ask? This one -

For all the details about this card, you can check out my April 8, 2014 blog post here. I'm super excited and honored to have my card chosen. *big grins* I will proudly be displaying this Top 3 Pick button on my blog. I sent this card to a dear friend of mine before I knew it was a winner. She should be receiving it any day now. And since I know she follows my blog, I think she should frame it and display it in her stamp room! *chuckling* It is a 'winner' after all, right? Hmmm.....maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket with my new found good luck. *wink wink* Happy Stamping!

Fun Little Trick

You know, Stampin' Up has some really awesome Designer Series Paper! Can I just say that I LOVE the smaller packs they are offering!?! You get more of each design so for classes and clubs, they are ideal! And the price isn't bad either. *wink wink* Inspired by the Fresh Prints pack in the mini catalog, I chose the Coastal Cabana wavy line one as my 'anchor' for this thank you card. You can pair so many awesome colors with our Coastal Cabana that it was hard to choose, but I narrowed it down with our Pink Pirouette and Strawberry Slush.

A little trick I will share you - the strip of Whisper White card stock across the middle of the card is actually 2 Banner Blast punches that I tucked behind my images. Doesn't it look like it should be the entire length of the card? Fooled ya' didn't I? Did you you that the Banner Blast punch is going to be in our new catalog coming out in July?! Yep, you heard it here folks! Want a peek of the inside before I personalized it? Voila!

Sometimes I like to change it up and put a light colored piece of card stock on the inside verses putting white all the time. It makes it that much more interesting I think. This was sent to a wonderful friend and customer of mine. Hope she enjoyed it! Happy Stamping!

Happy Birthday Eli!

This special card went to a very special boy, my godson. Happy Birthday Eli! He's a fun kid with a great sense of humor so I thought he would appreciate the slight silliness of this card. The rhino is from the Zoo Babies set, the words are from Just Sayin, and the hanging pennants are from Banner Blast. I thought it would be fun to experiment and try to recreate a faux metal look on the embossed strip to give this card a boost of masculinity. This photo didn't do the card justice in that aspect, but in real life it did resemble metal to me anyway! How did I do it? I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Alphabet embossing folder. Then I used my Smoky Slate and Basic Gray ink pads and sponged both colors all over the strip. Then I took my White Craft Pad and sponged that color over the strip in certain areas to give a 'highlight' or 'sheen' to it just like metal.Voila! Faux metal in no time at all using ink pads and sponges! Happy Stamping!

Thoughts Of Spring

Can it be? The weather actually is warming up slightly! Woo Hoo! Have I mentioned that I'm ready for spring?! *wink wink* Today's card is totally spring inspired - the colors, the image, etc. It just brings a smile to my face!

I decided to play with our fabulous Vellum card stock (love this stuff!) and emboss the Swallowtail stamp with White Embossing Powder on it. I then used our wonderful Stampin' Write Markers (Cameo Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Coastal Cabana) and colored the image on the OPPOSITE side of the vellum that I embossed. For the background, I used the "Thank you" from the Lots of Thanks set and stamped it in rows varying it's alignment. I then took my piece of vellum and strategically placed mini glue dots in places on the back of it (the side I colored on) and then adhered the piece to my stamped background. Voila! I love the softness and dimension the vellum overlay gives the card! Happy Stamping!

Sketch Challenge 5

Hi gang! I had a wonderful stamping afternoon with 3 fun gals yesterday. One of them has a thing for squirrels. So that has peaked my interest and started the wheels in my head turning. Hmmm....more on that another day.

Today I thought I thought I would play along with the sketch challenge over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. I find sketch challenges harder than color challenges. Not sure why. Yet when you are looking for a creative spin or something to help spark your creativity, any challenge can be beneficial! Going in with an open mind, this is where my creativity took me -

I just received the Starburst Sayings stamp set and coordinating framelits so I wanted to give them a whirl! What do you think? I inked the small starburst in three different colors: Primrose Petals, Island Indigo and Gumball Green. I then used the Create A Cupcake punch and punched out dots of the coordinating cardstock of each and adhered them on to a different color starburst to create some variance. The "hello" pennant flag is from the Perfect Pennants stamp set. I thought the background needed a little something, so I diecut starbursts of the Gumball Green and adhered them directly onto the card stock. It helps to give the background a touch of character don't you think? Try challenging yourself today, you may end up creating a masterpiece! *wink wink*  Happy Stamping!

Color Challenge 11

Happy Wednesday Stampers! Sorry for the blogging hiatus, life has been a little chaotic the last couple of weeks for me. I am hoping that it is finally settling down a little bit and normalcy will come back. To get back in the swing of things, I thought I would play along with the color challenge over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com this week.

I thought these colors tended to direct me towards more of a masculine inspired card. I wanted it to be more playful than serious though. Hence, this is what came about -

I cannot get enough of arrows lately! I've been putting them on EVERYTHING it seems! The background consists of Summer Starfruit card stock stamped with the arrow from Hello, Lovely and Smoky Slate card stock texturized with the Chevron Embossing Folder and then everything punched out with our Postage Stamp punch. I had a little fun 'shortening' the Pacific Point framelit from the Apothecary Framelits. I also used the "hi" from the Label Thinlets set and die cut that out of Whisper White circle so the blue from the label behind could show through. The die cut arrows are also from the Label Thinlets. Can you guess what I stamped two of them with? The lined stamp from my dearly beloved Gorgeous Grunge stamp set!?! You KNEW I had to include that set somewhere on this creation! LOL  Happy Stamping!
