Sketch Challenge 9

I had a specific card in mind that I needed to make for a dear friend whose "road of life" has been challenging for her the last few months. I knew what I wanted it to say, but didn't know how I wanted it to look until I saw the sketch challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary this week. It was perfect!

I did change it from vertical to horizontal to allow for my words to fit better. I added a piece of embossed Delightful Dijon onto a folded piece of Delightful Dijon card stock for a tone on tone effect for the base of the card. Just something a little different. I love this lady with her hand on her hip from the Just Kidding photopolymer set (Item #140667). There are some great 'cheeky' quotes in that set that just make you giggle! Happy Stamping!

Creation Station Blog Hop - Happy Birthday!

Hello stampers! It's been a busy week here in my household. In the early part of the week, I created dozens of thank you cards for an organization, mid-week I judged scrapbooks at the Maryland State Dairy Princess Pageant, and I was busy working at the end of the week on my projects and photos that I submitted in our county fair. I'll find out Tuesday if any were ribbon winners. In the meantime, it's time for another fun blog hop!

For this time our options were -
  • Use Build A Birthday and/or Crazy About You stamp sets
  • Birthday themed projects
  • Highlight the use of our Punch and/or Score Boards

Oooooh, love it when I have choices! I pulled out my Crazy About You stamp set and went to work on a couple of birthday cards.

First up, I thought how can I do something a little different with this set. Then it hit me, create a swag using the leaf and flower stamps! So, that's what I did. Using Mossy Meadow ink, I stamped the leaves several times to create the appearance of a swag. Then I stamped the flower two times, once with Calypso Coral ink and then with Daffodil Delight ink. I punched out the coral flower using the coordinating punch, and hand cut the daffodil one. I then stamped the words onto small strips of Whisper White card stock to change it up a bit instead of simply stamping them directly to large piece of Whisper White card stock. Added a couple Linen Thread loops and a Rhinestone to finish it off.

Up next, I thought it would be fun to use the words in the stamp set in a new manner as well. Since they are photopolymer they can be manipulated somewhat. I punched a 2" circle then carefully curved the word, "CELEBRATING" when applying it to the clear block. Fun right? When looking at the large flower stamp, you actually get 4 sizes of flowers in that one stamp! Crazy I know!?! But totally, AWESOME! With that in mind, I did a little more hand cutting and came up with this medium size flower. This card is actually 4 1/4" square in size. Sometimes just changing the size of a card makes things more interesting. And the good thing, it still fits in a regular size envelope! Woo hoo!

Side by side, you can see the different size of the flowers - all 4 of them! Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed these two fun projects. Depending on where you started on this blog hop, you can go back and revisit Jen's mad stamping skills or you can hop along to see what creative genius Martha has to share with you today!

Creation Station Blog Hop - Floral Fun!

Thanks for stopping by on this holiday weekend. I've had three extra kids at my house for the last four days so my creative time has been very limited. I did manage to squeeze out one cute project for this blog hop though!

For this time our options were -
  • Use Flower Patch or Flower shop stamp sets
  • Floral themed projects
  • Highlight the use of Watercolor Paper or Blender Pens

Flowers it is! I pulled out my Flower Patch stamp set that I hadn't used for a little bit and stood there staring at it. Turning, rotating and looking every which way at the stamps until an idea popped into my head. While this set is already filled with fabulous flower images, I created yet another one!

Yep, here's my own version of a flower with this set. Curious as to how I created it?

I used the small leaf from the set to create the flower petals! Starting from the left picture I stamped four leaves like a cross. Then I stamped one leaf in between each of those original leaves (middle picture). Then I went around again and stamped a leaf in between each leaf again. How simple and fun is that?! And I LOVE how it created a starburst shape in the center.

I created these wonderful new flowers in Watermelon Wonder, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie colors. I added a few splatters from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in Tuxedo Black and Pear Pizazz for visual interest. It's a little hard to tell but I also added Crystal Effects on top of the Whisper White "hello" to give it an epoxy look. It looks really neat in person!

So even though the set is full of flowers, here's another one to add to the list! Enjoy! Depending on where you started on this blog hop, you can go back and revisit Deborah's superb stamping skills or you can hop along to see what creative genius Martha has to share with you today! {Side note: I've been following Martha on her blog for a while now so I was ecstatic that she is now a part of our group!} Happy Stamping!
