In The Meadow with this Birthday Girl

It's an extra happy day today! Why you ask? Cause it's this gal's birthday! Woo Hoo! My wonderful friends and downline actually surprised me with a birthday bash on Monday night. Dinner and dessert was delicious, conversations and laughs were plenty and all the presents they bestowed upon me were simply wonderful! I am truly, truly blessed to have each one of them in my life. Today it's all about spending it with my special little man...and the big one too. Ha! Might go do a little antiquing or stamping while Jack is in school. Then we'll just have to see what the rest of the day brings. It's my birthday so the only thing I know for sure I'm doing is taking the day off from cleaning and laundry! LOL!

Today also brings a new color challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary. I had gotten the In The Meadow stamp set a wee bit ago and never really inked it up much until now.

I had this idea in my head for a basket weave type background. Looking over my stamp collection the long, narrow stamp from the Work of Art set seemed perfect for my vision! I stamped it in all three challenge colors. Then I stamped the trees and grass in Soft Suede ink on a piece of Soft Suede card stock for a secondary background. Then there's the focal point - the two deer standing in the meadow. LOVE this image! I stamped it in Soft Suede ink then using a Blender Pen, gave the deer some color. Using a dauber I added Mint Macaron grass and a Lost Lagoon sky. To finish it off I added a wonderful quote from the Rose Garden stamp set, two small punched Lost Lagoon flowers adorned with Pearls and a little sprinkling of Linen Thread. I really love how this card ended up turning out. Sometimes you never know where your creativity takes you, but today, I love where my journey ended! I hope these colors inspire you to play along with us this week. We'd love to have you! Happy Stamping from the birthday girl!
