Time for another fabulous sketch challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary! People that know me, know I have a thing for owls. Cute ones that is, not the kinda weird looking ones that you sometimes see around. Well I have a confession to make, I also love those fun wooden painted mushrooms that I've seen online! I have tried finding them around here to add a bit of natural whimsy in my home decor, but it seems that the ones ones I like can only be found across the "big pond"! Darn it! So in the absence of the real thing, I figured I would make a paper one instead.
I made mine out of a 2" circle of Real Red card stock and a 2" circle of Soft Suede card stock and did a little trimming to both to achieve the shapes I was after. I then sponged both in their given colors to add a little depth. I trimmed down the Sunburst Thinlet to create a more concentrated sunburst. A strip of Pear Pizazz card stock sponged with its coordinating ink then cut twice with the Fringe Scissors creates a fun strip of grass to help 'ground' everything. The words and stamped suns on the background are from the Project Life Memories in the Making set out of the Occasions Catalog.
It's a little hard to tell, but the 1/2" punched circles on the mushroom top are actually glitzed out with the Clear Wink of Stella. It adds such a fun shine to things, but it's so HARD to photograph! Here's hoping you truly do have sunny days ahead! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you decide to play along with our sketch challenge this week. Happy Stamping!
