Weather & Colors Go Hand in Hand

It's Thursday! What rainy sort of yucky and a little chilly weather we've been having now for the past two weeks. I'm waiting for some nice sunshine to arrive and dry all this up. It's making spring planting practically impossible and the barnyards just a muddy mess. Jack has been itching to play outside and get some miles on his new power wheels tractor he got for his birthday. Until then, it's another color challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary. When I saw the colors I was like, yep, that's what the days have been feeling like with all this dreary weather we've been having.

I alternately stamped one of the leaves from Vintage Leaves in Smoky Slate and Crumb Cake onto a piece of Whisper White card stock to create a fun background. You know me, I love a good background on cards! LOL

Using the coordinating framelits, I die cut the large maple leaf out of Vellum and then stamped the splatter from Gorgeous Grunge (may this set never leave!) in Basic Grey ink and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. I die cut the word "happy" from the Hello You Thinlets and added the "BIRTHDAY" from the Crazy About You stamp set. I was actually surprised how quickly this card came together as I thought I might struggle with the colors chosen. I hope you decide to play along with us this week. What do these colors inspire you to stamp?

  1. It has certainly been dreary here in Ohio, too! Maybe that is why Mary selected the neutral colors this week! lol! But, your leaves done in these colors are fabulous! LOVE this card! Great job with the color challenge this week!

  2. Your choice to use leaves with this color combo was so smart! There are so many cool things going on on this card I don't know where to start! First, the splattered vellum leaf is to fun and such a great accessory. The trio of banners tied together with the twine is another sharp way to showcase the sentiment! Your card this week rocks!!!

  5. Love the softness of this card! They seem like drab colors, but wow...they really look great done up in these leaves! Would even make a gorgeous sympathy card! Nice job!

  6. Dreary colours maybe Jennifer but your card uses them to great effect with these leaves. Love the addition of the vellum leaf and I'm always partial to a die cut sentiment - a great card!
