When It's Not Quite Right

Time for another sketch challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! I think my creative genes were on hiatus this week. Life has been overly chaotic this past two weeks. Started with getting sick, then a major family dilemma occurred, next was planning and hosting a bridal shower, and now a birthday party in a couple of days all by myself. So I will keep this short and sweet.

I kept to the concept of the sketch pretty closely. Like I said, my brain cells were no where near thinking outside the box. Colors chosen were Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette, and Cucumber Crush. I'm on the fence with how this one turned out. I love the tricolor petals and am now thinking I should have also die cut the leaves in Basic Black and filled in the openings with the Cucumber Crush. Yep, probably should have done that. I think it would have 'flowed' better. We are our own worst critics! Ha! I hope you check out everyone else's ideas with this sketch - there is definite 'awesomeness' there! Happy Stamping!

  1. Jennifer don't be so hard on yourself! You are right we are our own worst critics. I think your card looks lovely as it is. I love the infill on the petals and I love the pop of the green against the Crushed Curry too - it really stands out! Hope things calm down for you soon x

  3. With everything else you had going on, I'm surprised you managed a card at all Jennifer, let alone one as pretty as this! I love the modern paper-piecing of your rose and your subtle background really allows your bloom to take centre stage. Hope you are having a more restful week! xx

  4. Very nice card! I have not had the energy to put all those pieces back into the rose after I've cut it out...it looks great! I like the way the center is a little lighter. You did great despite life getting in the way!

  5. The stained glass look of your rose is so cool! I love that effect! It really pops against the yellow!
