Flowers For Mom

Point blank, it's been a chaotic week. Not only with work and Jack's school, but my mom was admitted to the hospital on Friday and is still there. I decided to gear the colors of this week's challenge towards a card I am sending her. She loves flowers, so I knew that had to be the focal point.

Avant Garden was the set of choice! I hadn't used the single stem of flowers in that set yet, so it was time to let it shine! I stamped it in Basic Black and then used Stampin' Write markers to add some color and Wink of Stella on the petals to make them sparkle. Sometimes with the color challenges I use the colors in either ink or card stock form. For this card I was happy that I used ALL three colors with ink AND card stock! Yet, the card isn't overwhelming. Love it! I hope you feel better and get back home soon mom! Happy Stamping!

Wind and Kitchens Don't Mix

Happy Thursday my stamping friends! Here on the east coast we've been having some pretty windy days, 40-60 mph gusts. We awoke Tuesday morning to Jack's playhouse down the hill and in pieces with some of them cracked and a chunk of shingles off our kitchen roof gone! Aagghh! As I am typing this I hear the wind picking up and starting to howl again. Oh boy! Wish us luck!

In honor of my kitchen roof needing attention in the near future, I decided to pull out my Perfect Mix stamp set for this week's sketch challenge. There is something about fussy cutting that is calming to me. As I was fussy cutting out the mixer, bowl, and spatula inspiration struck! I used my xacto knife to cut a slit in the batter for the beaters to go down into so they are actually in the batter! I took my color choices directly from the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper that I used. Smoky Slate, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, along with a small dabble of Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride worked hand in hand to create this fun card. Thanks for stopping by today! Please make sure you hop on over to Create with Connie and Mary to see the other fabulous designers' creations! Happy Stamping!

Spring Spirit

The last two days it has been 68 and 71 degrees. Overnight the temperature dropped over 30 degrees and they are calling for a few inches of snow today! That's just crazy!?! Mother Nature....she's a force to be reckon with that's for sure! I was not going to let this blast of winter dampen my "can't wait for spring spirit"!

I inked up the Thankful Life stamp set for this week's color challenge and decided to make a colorful flower arrangement to brighten my mood! I achieved the two shades of blue flowers by inking one stamp at full strength and the other I inked on scrap paper first then stamped on here. It's an easy step to achieve a different shade and make your ink pads go further! I stamped a couple additional flowers in Peek-a-boo Peach and punched them out using the Owl Builder punch and popped them up on dimensionals. Don't forget to stop over at Create with Connie and Mary and see what the other talented designers created using this color trio and then play along! Happy Stamping!

Creation Station Blog Hop - "They Say It's Your Birthday..."

I couldn't get that song out of my head while I was creating the projects for today's blog hop. And now you are singing it to yourself too, am I right?! LOL There has been a few birthdays in the family over the past few weeks, so birthday cards have been on the brain lately.

One of the wonderful (and free I might add!) Sale-A-Bration sets I received lately was Avant Garden. I knew it was the perfect time to get it inked up! Using Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, Blushing Bride and Wild Wasabi inks, I created a fun floral paper. One single floral stem stamped on an oval Stitched Framelit creates a simple but straightforward focal point.

I decided to create coordinating gift wrapping using one of our cute little Clear Boxes. I stamped a strip of card stock with the flowers like I did with the card and inserted it into the box. For a fun twist I took a strip of Basic Black card stock and fringed both sides using our Fringe Scissors. Gives it a playfulness don't you think?

For the topper I stamped a circle Stitched Framelit with leaves in Wild Wasabi ink. I also stamped and hand cut a single flower and attached it to the top with a dimensional. For the fun little tag, I used one of the word stamps in that set. Can you tell? I used the one that says "Thanks for being you." and only inked up the "for you".

I'm loving the versatility of this set! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you will continue hopping along and enjoy all the birthday inspired creations. Depending on where you started on our hop you can either go back and see Holly's inspirational creations or you can move along to see Mikaela's creative genius.  Happy Stamping!

Follow The Arrows

Happy Thursday stamping friends!  Saturday's stamping event for my team went GREAT! Everyone had a fun time and went home with a bag full of projects they created and prizes! I LOVE being able to spoil my gals!  Unfortunately I have now been fighting a cold since Monday. Yuck! No fun, so this week I decided to do a little blog surfing while doing a little resting and came across a card made by my fellow Creation Station Design Team member, Kimberly VanDiepen that showcased the arrows from the Sending Love Bundle as a background.  I knew I had to give it a try too and decided to apply it to this week's sketch challenge.

I die cut the arrows all the way down the side of a piece of Basic Gray card stock and then attached a piece of Whisper White card stock behind it so they would really be highlighted. This simple trick made for a fun and flirty background, don't you think? Thanks Kimberly for the idea and jumping off point of my card! I decided to use the stamp set in the bundle to finish off the main focal points of the card as well. And voila! a simple, but fun Valentine's Day card. Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will play along with us this week at Create with Connie and Mary! Happy Stamping!
