Thankful Fruits

Hard to believe that in a few short days we are saying goodbye to so many wonderful stamps. The new catalog will be taking effect on June 1. For this week's challenge, I told myself to pick a set I am sad to see going. Fresh Fruit is near the top of the list so I thought I would highlight it today!

To achieve the coloring on the pear, I inked up the stamp in Daffodil Delight ink first, then took a sponge with Pear Pizazz color on it and sponged the edge of the pear before stamping it onto Whisper White card stock. The stem and leaves are colored with Wild Wasabi and Soft Suede Stampin' Write Markers. For the peach, I used the appropriate Peekaboo Peach ink pad, but instead of stamping it full strength, I stamped it first on scrap paper then onto Whisper White card stock for a softer shade. It's stem and leaves were colored with Soft Suede and Pear Pizazz Stampin' Write Markers. I hand cut out both. The background flower and greeting are also from the stamp set. I love it when sets have images and words. Makes life easier when you are short on time! First Communion Wishes

I'm back! Sorry I was MIA this past week, I ended up getting a nasty bug that's been traveling around this neck of the woods. It came fast and hard. Blah! It's been over a week and I still have some congestion and a cough that acts up from time to time. At this point, it's more annoying than anything. A friend of mine's son recently received his First Communion. I thought the color palette of this week's challenge would work nicely for the card I wanted to create for him.

I adore the cross from the All God's Grace stamp set. I sponged the inset of it with Night of Navy ink instead of using my marker to give it more of a softer touch. I hand cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals. Can you see the lattice work behind it? I cut 1/4" strips of Whisper White card stock and adhered them in a lattice pattern to an oval I die cut. I then cut an additonal oval frame to put on top to cover up the lattice strip edges. I stamped the dove from this stamp set as well to create some visual interest in the background. The greeting is from the Floral Phrases stamp set. The card base is actually only 5 1/4" inches long. That way my word banner could hang off the edge (to the normal 5 1/2" length) but still fit perfectly in the envelope. Just something a little different.

It's a little hard to tell, but I added Wink of Stella all over the cross and the outer oval rim. In person it adds just the right touch of sparkle without it being overwhelming. The rhinestone on the cross finishes it off nicely. We are so happy for you Ryan! Sending Grunge Wishes

Hello stamping friends! When I saw the colors this week I wasn't quite sure what to do. So I decided to go with my trusty and reliable stamp set, Gorgeous Grunge. It's never let me down. I am sad that it is retiring. It will continue to stay in my personal arsenal for a while.

I started by stamping all three colors on a piece of Whisper White card stock to create a fun splattered background. Then I decided to add a feminine touch by stamping and die cutting butterflies from the Butterfly Basics set and adhere them with dimensionals as if they were in flight. To soften the bold colors, I added Rhinestones to the bodies of the butterflies and then small Tip Top Taupe triangles to the corners. This card is much prettier in person. Hope you have a great day! I have a To Do list a mile long with a short amount of time to accomplish it. I feel like Rosie the Riveter in the famous poster and telling myself, "You can do this!". Happy Stamping!
