A Fox on the Farm

Hard to believe we are at the end of July. Our county fair is now over and we have four more coming up. I don't think we will take animals to any except maybe our State Fair, but we still like to take a day and go and enjoy each of them. On my parents' farm out west, they have a fox. She acts more like a pet than anything, following them around while doing chores. Foxes are curious animals by nature, and can be bold sometimes, but not aggressive. She has created her den near one of the barns. For a couple of years now, they have lived in this harmonious relationship. My brother posted a picture of her the other day so I was inspired to put her on my card for this week's sketch challenge.

Of course we have the perfect stamp set to use for such this occasion - Foxy Friends! I stamped her in Calypso Coral and Basic Black ink. I inked the tree up with Wild Wasabi ink and placed it behind her just like the big tree that is next to her den back on the farm. I decided on two shades of blue, Soft Sky and Island Indigo to mimic a sky. The strip of Crumb Cake card stock balances it well as the ground. When seeing her you often wonder what she is thinking. The words from Basket of Wishes seemed appropriate on the matter. I adhered my little scene onto a piece of Whisper White card stock backed by a Wild Wasabi card base. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my little fox friend. Happy Stamping!

A Little of This...A Little of That

This week we have animals at the county fair so it's been a little more chaotic than usual here! Jack is loving his time there. He is such a good, and helpful worker when it comes to the animals. From feeding to cleaning (yep, you got to give the animals a bath daily to keep them cooled off and looking sparkly clean) to brushing them....he truly is the sweetest and best helper anyone could have! I have to share that he entered a project in the home arts department for the first time this year. He stamped his own card and was awarded a First Place Blue Ribbon! He was so tickled! And I couldn't be prouder of him! His mom (wink, wink) also won a First Place Blue Ribbon for the card I entered and four additional ribbons (two First Place and two Second Place) in different photography categories.

The colors this week were so bold that it reminded me of splashes of color, like the Color 5K Runs you see and hear about where people are just covered in colors when they cross the finish line. The splatter is from the Swirly Bird stamp set and was stamped in all three colors. As I was creating this card, I went with a "little bit of this and a little bit of that" mentality. I used die cuts and punched pieces from Swirly Scribbles, Bouquet Bunch, Sweet and Sassy and the Lemon Builder punch. I just kept adding until I was happy with the result. The saying from the Layering Love stamp set was the perfect choice for this whimsy card. The white on white base for the card really lets all the colors take center stage. I let my creativity go and voila! this masterpiece was born. We'd love for you to join us with this week's color challenge. Just hop on over to Create with Connie and Mary to play along. Happy Stamping!

Lemonade Anyone?

The irony when I first saw this sketch is that the piece of white reminded me of a shape of a drinking glass. So from there, I decided to ink up the fabulous Lemon Zest stamp set to mimic a glass of lemonade! Yep, inspiration comes from anywhere!! LOL

I decided to use the traditional colors of Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black and Whisper White for my lemon creation. The saying from the stamp set created for a fun background that is adhered on to a piece of our Thick Whisper White card stock. I keep kicking myself, why did I not get on the thick white card stock band wagon earlier!?! I LOVE this stuff for card bases! I also added in the stars and main greeting from the Tabs For Everything set for a bit of whimsy. Hope you're enjoying your week! Happy Stamping!

I See Seashells at the Seashore

Hello stampers! I hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday. It's a little busier than usual week here as Jack's cousin is staying with us. Every summer she spends a week or so with us and we try to do some fun things for them. On Monday we went to see the movie, Despicable Me 3. It's a funny movie, good for kids and adults. I am hoping later in the week to take them mini golfing. We'll see how it goes.

I have to say that when I saw the colors in this week's challenge, I thought of shells. Why? No clue. But shells came to mind. So I inked up the new So Many Shells stamp set and had fun with it. Some I did the two-step stamping, and some I didn't. Whatever I was feeling, I went with it. I used the new Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon for some softness. I LOVE it's texture and how it feels!

I also thought it would be fun to play with the background too. You know me. Anyway I can spice up a background, I do! This time I used the set of lines from the Tabs For Everything stamp set and just inked it up and kept turning it to cover the entire piece of Tranquil Tide card stock.

It reminds me of a parquet floor almost. Too fun! Since this stamp set is photopolymer, it took no time at all! Remember to always think outside the box! Life's too short for you to stay in it. Happy Stamping!

Creation Station Blog Hop - In Color Creations

Welcome to the Creation Station Blog Hop! This month's theme is all about highlighting our amazing In Colors. I chose to stick with the five new ones (Fresh  Fig, Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide) and highlight ALL of them on both projects! Oh yes, the creative juices were flowing this week and I was up for the challenge!

I thought it would be fun to create a colorful band highlighting the five colors so I took 1/2" strips of each color and adhered them along one edge of a piece of Berry Burst. What a fun twist to a usually solid color layer on a card. That was my jumping off point. From there I stamped the pens from the Crafting Forever stamp set to mimic another row of colors. This time with using our Stampin' Write markers in those five fabulous colors and giving each pen their own personality.

The inside also warranted the use of another pen along with the words. By adding just a little "something", it helps to jazz up the inside of cards. Don't you think?

I saved my favorite for last. I used multiple new stamp sets on this card. First up, I stamped the five In Colors with the heart from the Wood Words stamp set on a piece of Whisper White card stock to create a fun background. Using a Stitched Circle Framelit, I stamped this wonderful saying from the Just Add Text in Tranquil Tide ink and popped it up on dimensionals. I then stamped this darling little bear, bees and grass from the In The Wild set. The bear got a little color using our reinkers and and Aquapainter, the bees with our Stampin' Write Markers and the grass with our Lemon Lime Twist ink pad. I hand cut all of them out and popped them all up on dimensionals. I finished the card off with a Berry Burst ribbon and Wink of Stella on the wings of the bees for some sparkle. Can I just say, "I am in LOVE with this card!" It just brings a smile to my face! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Enjoy hopping along to see what other fabulous creations the rest of the design team made using our fabulous In Colors! Happy Stamping!
