Creation Station Blog Hop - The ABC's of Stampin'

School is starting in two days. *gulp* So much to finish up before then! I just hope Jack has a good year. He is not a lover of school, so we are hoping his brand new teacher (she is new to his school this year) will make the adjustment a little easier for him. Speaking of school, this month's blog hop theme is appropriately titled, "The ABC's of Stampin'."  You could take this theme in a couple different directions. One being anything school inspired, another being the basics of stamping in general.

Since it's all about back to school now, that's the direction I went. Jack has always taken his teacher and bus driver an apple on the first day of school. Here is this year's apple all packaged up and ready to go! Sometimes a cute tag is all you need on a gift.

Using the Bike Ride stamp set, I stamped a basket of apples on a Stitched Circle that I already die cut. I also die cut a scallop square in Real Red card stock using the Layering Squares Framelits. I stamped the stack of books on the square using Real Red ink. I did NOT adhere the circle to the square. They are only held together with the Soft Sky Classic Weave Ribbon bow at the top. I stamped the greeting from Pieces & Patterns stamp set and popped that up on dimensionals and adhered that to the circle die cut. Using my Basic Black marker, I hand wrote his teacher's name across the top. Overall a simple and cute tag that takes an ordinary apple and turns it into extraordinary!

During back to school shopping I always pick up a pack of index cards. This year they cost $.52 for a pack of 100 at Target. Jack loves getting notes in his lunch box throughout the year (yes, he packs a lunch every single day). I try and do it at least 3 a week. Some days I will just put Star Wars or Batman stickers on the ziploc baggies in his lunch if I am short on time. Some notes are super simple and others are a little more elaborate. It all just depends how that week is going. I write on the back or blank side of the cards. Here is his card for the first day.

I stamped the stack of books from the Bike Ride stamp set and used a variety of Stampin' Write markers to give them some color and character. I then masked the books and stamped the same apples I used above in the basket on both sides of the books and gave them a quick swipe of color with the markers as well. Wrote my message to him with a black sharpie and voila! a quick little lunch note for his first day of school to ready to go!

I made an additional packaged apple for his bus driver as well. She is the BEST! Jack absolutely adores her and we spoil her just as much as the teachers! Thanks for stopping by today and hope will continue along the blog hop and get inspired with the ABC's of stampin'!

  3. Pretty little package for your apple. But, I really love the stamped index card notes -- and that your son loves them.
