A Valentine Without the Red

I have to fully divulge that this week's color challenge was a struggle for me. Perhaps it may because I am on stamping overload this week as I have an all day "OnStage Regional" type event planned for my local downline on Saturday. There will be displays, stamping, games, demonstrations, lunch, prize patrol, and so on. Lots to do and prepare for such a grand event!

After pondering the colors for a bit, I decided to go masculine and make a non-traditional colored valentine card. Valentines don't have to be red or pink, right? I stamped the hearts from our new Sending Love stamp set randomly on a piece of Whisper White card stock. The greeting is from Friendly Wishes and the two-tone was easily achieved with our Stampin' Write Markers. To change it up a bit, I thought it would be fun to color block a little for the frame behind the words. So on the Whisper White I used the Emerald Envy and when it crosses over onto the green, I used Pacific Point. To finish off this clean and simple card I wrapped and tied a little of our Baker's Twine around the greeting. Don't forget to check out all the other designers' work using this color combination at Create with Connie and Mary and play along. Happy Stamping!

Passing Notes

I was excited for this week's sketch challenge! I received a box of wonderful new toys to play with and I couldn't have had a better excuse to get right into using some of them! With Valentine's Day on the horizon, I knew I wanted to go that route and use our Sending Love Suite.

This suite of products includes a wonderful stamp set called Sealed With Love, a coordinating framelit set, Love Notes and the spot on Designer Series Paper Pack called Sending Love. All 3 work effortlessly together and I whipped up this card in no time at all! I decided on a the classic color combination of Real Red, Whisper White and Basic Black, but added a modern update with Smoky Slate. I can see many more projects being created with this fabulous suite! Happy Stamping!

Raining Hearts

Well, we made it through Jack's first 2-hour school delay of the season yesterday morning due to ice. We are supposed to get some more mixed precipitation Saturday into Sunday. Yeah for winter, right? Well, I decided to not let that hinder my creativity and instead think happy thoughts when creating my project for this week's color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary.

I was in the mood for hearts. Hearts make everyone happy right? The Weather Together stamp set was perfect for this occasion! I paper pieced the umbrella to shield off those whimsical raining hearts. I also decided to add punched hearts using the Owl Builder punch that I adhered along the left side to help create balance. A simple, yet fun card to chase away the winter blues. Happy Stamping!

Creation Station Blog Hop - Love Is In The Air

Today's blog hop is appropriately themed, "Love Is In The Air." Even though my Christmas decorations are still up, I was in the mood to create something that wasn't holiday inspired. So I set to work using whatever hearts I could find in my arsenal!

The Perpetual Birthday Calendar set has a cute little cluster of hearts that were perfect to stamp in Real Red ink for a fun background. I also stamped the single little heart from the Sweet Home set in Blushing Bride ink to make the background more interesting. The die cut heart and word "love" are from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlet set. Add a strip of our Gold Metallic ribbon and a bow, and you've got a wonderful source of sparkle.

I wanted to create a fun little treat holder to accompany my card so I whipped this little box up in no time using our Pyramid Pals Thinlet Die. I stamped the two colored hearts all over the pieces like I did on the card before assembling the box. Once again, I used the same die cut set to create the two sized hearts and word "love" that I adhered with glue dots to a wooden skewer that I colored black and slipped into the top of the box. To make it really easy to slip it in and out, I snipped about 1/8 of an inch off the top of the completed pyramid. Add a double layered gold metallic bow and voila! you have a fun and easy treat holder.

Even though love can be complicated, I didn't want it to be with the projects I shared with you today. I kept them easy and fairly simple so you could spread love on a massive scale if you wanted. I hope you will continue hopping along to see what the other designers created this month. Happy Stamping!

Reindeer Celebration

Welcome stampers to the first weekly challenge of 2017! It's been a whirlwind holiday season for me. It started with my dad's surgery that did not go as planned, which caused a second emergency surgery which also proved to have some complications. That then lead Jack and I to hop on a plane 48 hours later and travel half way across the country to be with him and my family. He is recovering now at home finally and in good hands with home nurses coming 3 times a week. He is still hooked up to one portable tube, but the doctor said that will be coming out in another week. Christmas was not spent as originally planned, but it still worked out for my little one. Santa brought a few gifts to him there and left some at home too. So he got 2 Christmas mornings out of the deal!

Another event that happened over the holidays was a sweet friend of mine gave birth to a cute little baby boy, Jayce Winter Buresh. I thought this week's sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary lent itself to a great winter themed baby card. After all, that's his middle name! Part of his gift I am sending includes a little reindeer so I new the Foxy Friends set was the way to go! The reindeer and tree are from that set, and I used Pool Party snowflakes from the Snow Place set, Early Espresso ones from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar set, and the words come from Places You'll Go and Weather Together sets.

I am anxious to get back into my stamping groove and look forward to sharing new projects every week with Create with Connie and Mary. Happy Stamping!
