Serene Thanks

With the Thanksgiving holiday coming up, I took my inspiration for this week's sketch challenge from the colors and feelings that come along with this time of year.

The stamp set, Serene Garden can go in many different directions simply by the colors you choose to go along with it. In this case, I used Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to add all the different shades. I thought the darkness of Basic Black would really make them all 'pop'. The words are from the Painted Harvest set and fit perfectly with this layout. Happy stamping!

Clean & Simple Leaves

I love these three colors together for this week's color challenge! I decided to go for a slightly more modern twist for my card. With clean lines and a simple design, the colors really pop!

Using the Leaf Punch, I punched out six leaves on piece of Whisper White card stock. I took my 1 3/4" Circle Punch and punched around each of those leaf openings. I then took pieces of Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Mint Macaron and punched leaves of out them. I adhered the six white circles onto a piece of Mint Macaron and then inlaid a leaf into each opening. It's hard to tell, but to add even more interest, I used Wink of Stella and put it on each leaf. The words are from the Sunny Days stamp set and inked in Night of Navy ink. You may be wondering where I got the Mossy Meadow bow from. I took a piece of White Baker's Twine and using my Mossy Meadow ink pad and sponge, I sponged it until I achieved the tone of color I wanted. Easy peasy! Make sure you wait a few minutes for the ink to soak in and dry before tying it into a bow or you'll have ink all over your fingers. Ask me how I know. *wink wink* This card is going to a  dear friend who's going through some rough times now with with family. I thought this might be a little unexpected comfort for her to find in her mailbox.

Creation Station Blog Hop - In All Things Give Thanks

Hello stampers! Welcome to another fabulous Creation Station Blog Hop. This month's hop is all about giving thanks. Something everyone should do more often, including myself. I am anxiously awaiting the changing colors of the leaves. In the mean time, I decided to use that as my inspiration for my projects.

Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso are all the colors I am anticipating to see soon. I used the large leaf die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlets and die cut out three leaves in a row from a piece of Whisper White card stock. I stamped the splatter from the Swirly Bird stamp set all over the card stock in Crumb Cake ink. I took pieces of Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry and adhered them behind the opening of each leaf. Using the vein leaf die from that same thinlet set, I embossed it with gold embossing powder and tucked it behind the piece of Whisper White card stock with the words stamped on it. The words are from the Country Home set that I absolutely adore! I stepped it up a notch and stamped the "thankful" again on a piece of card stock this time in Cherry Cobbler ink, and cut it out. I popped it up on mini dimensionals to give it more visual interest.

To coordinate with my card, I created a triangle box and filled it with sweets! With a little scoring and folding, it was easy to make. I took a 4" x 7" piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped all over it. Then I folded it in half at 3 1/2" and opened it back up again. I then scored from the 2" spot on the 4" side to each of the corners that the initial fold created. I did that on both sides. Then simply fold each crease and punch a hole on each side, fill with sweets and tie shut with a ribbon! Absolutely no adhesive needed! Woo hoo!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope these inspired you to do a little giving thanks of your own. To see even more inspiration, hop along to the wonderfully sweet and talented, Kathy Kartak. Happy Stamping!

Falling Leaves

Last night my friend and I took our kids trick or treating. What a warm and wonderful night to walk around her development! We talked, we laughed, we enjoyed all the decorations and nice people handing out candy. The kids enjoyed themselves as well, another Halloween in the books! I guess it's time now to welcome in November. *sighs* This year is going by too fast!

In honor of the season and my anticipation for the leaves to change colors (it hasn't happened here yet!), I inked up the large leaf stamps from the Colorful Seasons set and created away! It's hard to tell, but the vein leaf stamp was actually inked in Versamark then embossed in gold so the leaves have a beautiful sheen to them. The large piece of Early Espresso card stock was sent through the Big Shot and embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. I hope this month is a wonderful one for you! Looking forward to stamping with you soon!

Missing My Friend

I wanted to send a card to a dear, sweet friend of mine that I haven't been able to visit in a while due to my chaotic work schedule. I wanted to send her creative self a card I knew she would enjoy. I decided to ink up the Crafting Forever stamp set and coordinate it with this week's sketch. They worked so great together!

I decided to see what stamping our new Buffalo Check stamp in the same ink as the card stock would look like. I like the effect! It's more subtle, but eye pleasing. The pot of brushes colored with all different colors of Stampin' Blends (she loves color!) is actually layered behind the piece of Real Red card stock. I die cut the oval out of the piece of Real Red card stock after I stamped the Buffalo Check creating a 'window' to look through at the pot of brushes. Other colors I used are Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede. The saying is from the new Enjoy Life stamp set and was perfect for her card! It's popped up on dimensionals. I'm off to put this in the mail! Have a great day my friends!

For the love of Country (Country Home that is!)

I was completely thrilled with the colors this week! I knew immediately that I was going to ink up the Country Home stamp set and go to town! I LOVE when ideas are instant!

I stamped the flower group in Tuxedo Black ink all over a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and adhered that onto a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock for my card base. I opened up the Tin Tile embossing folder I had just received and quickly ran a piece of Mint Macaron card stock through the Big Shot with it. What wonderful and easy texture it adds! A strip of Blackberry Bliss cut with a pennant at one end helps to break up the background and grounds the focal point on the piece of Whisper White card stock. I used ink pads in all three colors along with a Blender Pen to add the soft coloring to my main image. The words are from the Waterfront stamp set that I inked up and stamped off once before stamping on my card front. I liked the softer shade of Blackberry Bliss it created verses stamping it at full strength. I added a double Linen Thread bow to the handle and voila! a gorgeous card to be proud of. LOVE it! Happy Stamping my friends!

Creation Station Blog Hop - Layers of Leaves

Hello stamping friends! So glad you stopped by, because today highlights a fabulous Mother Nature creation - leaves! Who gets excited about leaves? This lady does! They are after all, a rather wonderful phenomenon. They sprout from branches every spring, grow, change colors, fall off and repeat this process year after year. Oh how I love their gorgeousness when they change into all different colors. *sighs* Yep, leaves are pretty awesome!

First up, I decided to turn the leaf I die cut from the Seasonal Layers Thinlets into a spooky ghost. I simply snipped off the stem and used my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to draw on the face and rub along the edges for definition. All the stamps I used were from this month's Paper Pumpkin kit. I LOVE Halloween and couldn't wait to get it this month! Colors I used for card stock and inks were Basic Black, Whisper White, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape and Smoky Slate. To make the fun tombstones, I used the Everyday Label Punch and simple trimmed off a little of each so they were different in shape and size. I then sponged Smoky Slate ink around the edge and used my Smoky Slate Stampin' Write marker to make crack lines. Voila! easy and simple tombstones in no time. I love my little leaf ghost!

I was inspired by a pillow I saw at a store a few weeks ago that reminded me of the story, Jack and the Beanstalk. I decided to recreate it as best as I could with paper. I love when you find inspiration when you least expect it! The card base is Whisper White, with a wide band of Crumb Cake across the middle, then Blackberry Bliss and Pumpkin Pie layered on top. Using Pumpkin Pie ink, I stamped the square tile from the Country Home set on the piece of Pumpkin Pie to mimic the "sort of middle eastern pattern" that was on the pillow. Ha! The Leaf Punch made quick work of my 'beanstalk' border, making sure to alternate the direction of the leaves. The words are from the Calls For a Celebration set, and a double Linen Thread bow finishes it off nicely. Boy, I like the richness of these colors together!

I hope you enjoyed my leaf creations and they inspire you to look at leaves in a different way! Want to see more ideas? Then hop along to my friend, Mikaela and see what is "sure to be magnificently awesome" creations!

Time for a "Bike Ride"

Oh October, how I love you so! Time for falling leaves, pumpkins, and saying goodbye to the heat. I love the smells, the colors, the entire season you bring! I wish all of you, my stamping friends a wonderful and happy October!

This week's sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary was perfect for a "Bike Ride." *smiles* The bike was stamped in Tuxedo Black and Coastal Cabana colors. It's perfect for holding a Crumb Cake basket of Crushed Curry Sunflowers and a Crumb Cake puppy with a Pumpkin Pie scarf. The saying is from Apron of Love and the background was created with a stamp from Labels to Love. Overall a sweet card to begin welcoming in the fall season. Happy Stamping my friends!

Here Kitty, Kitty!

We all know someone who is either a dog lover, a cat lover, or both! I grew up with a cat in the house and a dog outside on the farm. Neither went into the other's territory and all was right with the world. *smiles* The Pretty Kitty stamp set was just too cute to pass by, and has been in my stamping arsenal for some time now. When colored this light grey, the little guy reminds me of my childhood cat, Chuck.

This week's color combination seemed perfect for the idea I had in my head with this stamp. I wanted a trio of these little guys stamped on die cut squares from the Stitched Shapes framelits. The Tufted Dynamic embossing folder adds a touch of softness that balances out the splatter from the Swirly Bird stamp set. The greeting is from the new stamp set, Country Home. This card is going to my cat loving friend I haven't seen in a little while. Hopefully she'll like it! Have a great stamping day my friends!

Treehouse Fun

The number one set on my list when I first saw the new catalog was Treehouse Adventure. It's fun for kids and adults, good for all different occasions, and is just plain CUTE!  With this week's sketch challenge, I figured it would be neat to incorporate this fun treehouse.

The base is Coastal Cabana card stock stamped with the sun from the Sunny Days set, and a piece of Crumb Cake and Grapefruit Grove layered on top. The greeting is also from the Sunny Days set. To mimic sun rays, I stamped the little pennants from the Treehouse Adventure set, just rotated them 90 degrees first. I just love the colors and fun aspect of this card! I could only wish to have had a treehouse this awesome growing up. Mine was much more simpler, but still fun! Happy Stamping!

Quick and Easy Buffalo

Hi stampers! I'm going to keep this post short and sweet as I have a lot of things I need to accomplish today in between the raindrops. It's been raining on and off for days now. Everything is saturated. Even Jack's school bus has had to take alternate routes to pick up the kids due to different roads being closed because of the water. And now there's a hurricane coming, that depending on how it hits, we may feel some effects from it. Oh my!

I'm in LOVE with the new Buffalo Check stamp in case you couldn't tell in my creations lately. I mean, the pattern is pretty in any color you try! This one happens to be Pacific Point. Once I stamped that, the rest of the pieces, whether punched or die cut seemed to fall into place. Sometimes you just need a quick thank you and this card fits the bill! Want a sneak peek of the inside?

I thought it would be fun to mimic the outside on the inside! Too fun! And what a nice little surprise for the recipient. Hope you are staying safe and dry my friends, wherever you are! Happy stamping!

Creative Pens

Word on the street (aka The Weather Channel) is that this weekend is going to be rainy and about 25 degrees cooler than it was in the middle of the week. What?! Really?! It was a high of 94 on Tuesday and 93 yesterday, and they are calling for 69 on Saturday. Oh Mother Nature, how you play with us so!

I thought it was time to highlight a set I had inked up in a while, Crafting Forever. It is a rather fun set, and this card uses only two of the nine awesome stamps it includes! The pens not only create a fun background when stamped tone one tone, this one being Smoky Slate; but also a colorful focal point when stamped in Tuxedo Black ink and colored with various Stampin' Write Markers. The saying is a motto I would love to be able to do! But alas, life does get in the way sometimes. Darn it. Happy Stamping my friends and go do something creative today!

Creation Station Blog Hop - Power of the Punch

Two days. That's when Jack heads back to school. The summer has flown by and third grade is upon us. *sigh* He's nervous, but his teacher seems nice and his good buddy is in the same classroom, so here's to keeping our fingers crossed for a good year!

This month's blog hop, "Power of the Punch" got my creative wheels turning. With the fall season upon our doorsteps, I thought I would create something for my favorite time of year!

Isn't this crate of acorns just the cutest? Love them! And they were easy to make! How you may ask? With three simple punches and a little snip, snip!

I used the largest of the two balloons on the Balloon Bouquet punch in Crumb Cake (just snip off the little tie end), the 1 3/8" Circle punch (cut that in half)  and the leaf from the Lemon Builder punch (just snip off the top third of the stem end), both in Soft Suede. Voila! instant acorns!

I wanted these little guys to shine, so I kept the rest of my card pretty simple. A strip of Whisper White card stock stamped in Crushed Curry ink with our fabulous new Buffalo Check background stamp adds a touch of color. The saying from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set seemed appropriately funny.

Hope you enjoyed my nuts! Make sure you hop along to see what the sweet and funny Andrea has to share. Happy Stamping!

Purple + Green = Loveliness

Toady is a big day! It's Jack's back to school open house where we get to see his classroom and meet his teacher. We are hoping for another great year! Last year, he absolutely LOVED his teacher, so this year she will have big shoes to fill! Ha! Hard to believe summer is coming to an end and that he's going to be in third grade already! Time flies with kids!

I think everyone had flowers on the brain with this week's color challenge. Great minds think alike after all! *wink wink* I recently received the Buffalo Check background stamp (Enter a loud squeal of excitement!) that will be featured in upcoming holiday catalog. I had to ink it up immediately! Doesn't it make for a fabulous background?!? LOVE IT! I decided to keep the rest of my card fairly simple by using the Daisy and Leaf punches to create the floral focal point and the Celebrate You Thinlets for the greeting. Happy stamping my friends!

Yellow Flowers For My Friend

On a recent trip, I got to spend some time with a dear friend of mine. I only get to see her once or twice a year, so our time we are together is always special to me. This time she surprised me with a wonderful gift that honored my mom. I couldn't have been more surprised, and so appreciative to such a thoughtful gesture. I have it on my kitchen counter so I see it often daily.

I decided to stamp the flowers from the Abstract Impressions set all over to create a colorful background on the card. The larger ones are inked with Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy and Call Me Clover inks in all different strengths of the ink colors. The small "filler" ones are inked with Powder Pink ink in the different strengths as well. The main saying is from the Calls For A Celebration set and the strip of Daffodil Delight card stock is textured with the Tufted Dynamic Embossing Folder. A special card for an extra special friend. Happy Stamping!
