Creation Station Blog Hop - Got Your Back

At first when I read what the theme was for this month the song, "Baby Got Back" by Sir-Mix-Alot immediately came into my head and well, I told Google to go ahead and play it! It was then followed by another 40 minutes of various 90's songs that got me all nostalgic and a little lethargic from singing along. Gosh, what a great decade musically! But this month isn't about music, it's about backgrounds and the fun you can have with them!

This bold background was created by cutting 1"x 3" strips of Real Red, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay and adhering them onto a piece of Whisper White card stock then using the Tufted 3D Embossing Folder to give it dimension. I then took my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and swiped all over it really making the the pattern 'pop'. I love the effect it got! Since the background was so bold, I kept the rest of the card simple. The words are from the Beauty Abounds stamp set, while the butterflies and grass on the Daffodil Delight strip of card stock are from the Enjoy Life set.

I decided to switch gears a little bit and go more masculine for this next card. To create this plaid background, I stamped the Buffalo Check background stamp in Mint Macaron on Whisper White card stock. I then took my Bermuda Bay and Basic Black Stampin' Write markers along with my trusty ruler and created the lines to turn it from a buffalo check pattern to plaid. It took no time at all! The words are from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and are stamped on the largest of Stitched Oval shapes. The leaves and berry twigs were die cut from the Flourish Thinlets in the same colors I used for the plaid. Do you like the Bermuda Bay strip that 'grounds' it all? I stamped the water from the High Tide stamp set to achieve the pattern on it and helps to break up the all plaid background.

Two fun ideas for backgrounds that were both easy and quick, but pack a real 'wow' effect! Thanks for stopping by today, now let's hop along to Sara and see what her creative juices came up with. It's sure to be wonderful! Happy Stamping my friends!
