Welcome to the first ever Hopping Around the World Blog Hop! If you're hopping here from Rachel Macleod's blog, I hope you enjoyed your stop there. And if you're just starting here - Welcome! I am honored to be a part of this amazingly talented group of stampers that spans all over the world! Mark your calendars as this fabulous hop will go live the last Saturday of each month. Our first month's theme is Christmas. My favorite holiday of the year!
Both of my Christmas cards today are for dear friends of mine. I wanted to highlight a stamp set that doesn't necessarily scream Christmas, but can be easily be used for it. Without further ado....Waterfront is going to take center stage! I tore a piece of scrap paper with a "hill" shape then inked the trees in Night of Navy ink and stamped them over the paper to mimic a large snow drift. I then gently sponged Balmy Blue ink for a winter sky. Like the snowflakes? That stamp is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and also inked in Night of Navy ink and stamped onto a piece of Whisper White card stock that I sponged with Balmy Blue ink. Lots of layers of white and blues, Whisper White baker's twine wrapped and tied in a bow, plus the random placement of rhinestones help to create this fun Christmas card. It's a little hard to tell, but the snow drift sparkles as I used my Wink of Stella pen all over it.
Well, I wasn't done with those little trees so I decided to stamp then this time in Mossy Meadow. Some are stamped full strength, and others at half to help give dimension. I love a good buffalo check for the holidays, and our Buffalo Check background stamp inked with Basic Black ink on Real Red card stock did the trick! I die cut leaves and twigs using the Flourish Dies in Old Olive and Soft Sea Foam, and punched vellum ones with the Leaf punch. All tucked behind and adhered to the large stitched circle. The words are from the Beauty Abounds stamp set. I really like the Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam and Basic Black color combination on this card. How about you?
Well, there you have it! Two different Christmas cards for friends using the "happy little trees" from the Waterfront stamp set. Bob Ross would be so happy! ;) Ha Ha! I hope you continue along to see that wonderful creativity of Mo Rootes who is across the pond. Happy stamping my friends!

What's that you say? October is here? The changing colors, the chilly weather, the smell of pumpkin spice...oh, I could go on and on. October is absolutely my favorite month of the year! I am absolutely giddy this time of year! *big grins* And with the start of a new month, starts a new blog hop. This month it's all about black and white plus one more color. Do you know hard it is to choose only one of Stampin' Up's fabulous colors to showcase? Gulp! I'm hoping I did this month justice by in the end, going old school classic with Real Red.
October is time for apple picking so I inked up the Harvest Hellos stamp set and highlighted this delicious fall fruit. I used both light and dark Real Red Stampin' Blends to color it and then popped it up on dimensionals and adhered it to a stitched circle I die cut, which is also popped up on dimensionals. I wanted to get a little creative so I stamped the leaf repeatedly to create my own black and white dsp. Three small white die cut stitched circles help to border the leaves and and ground the apple. For a fun twist I inked up three of the leaves in Real Red ink, punched them out with the coordinating punch and added them randomly as well. In the end, this card and idea of using black, white and one other color made me smile, so I couldn't help but stamp that on the card! What a fun theme this month! To see other AMAZING creations, please continue on through the blog hop starting with the sweet and talented Sara! Happy stamping my friends!
